Applications of intra uterine devices (IUDs)

1. Contraception:

• The primary application of IUDs is to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

2. Menstrual Bleeding Control:

• Hormonal IUDs can reduce heavy menstrual bleeding.
  

3. Endometrial Hyperplasia and Endometrial Cancer:

• Progestin-releasing IUDs are sometimes used in the management of these conditions.

4. Emergency Contraception:

• Some copper IUDs can be used as emergency contraception if inserted within a few days of unprotected intercourse.
