Structure
Azatadine maleate Molecular Formula: C20H22N2
Mode of action
Histamine and azatadine compete for the same effector cell locations on the histamine H1- receptor.
The antihistamines reduce the intensity of allergic reactions and the tissue injury response that involves histamine release by blocking those histamine pharmacological effects that are mediated by activation of H1- receptor sites.
Uses
Azatadine is used to treat various allergy and cold symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, hives, and rashes.
