Mechanism of Action:

  • Bisoprolol is a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It reduces heart rate and contractility, thereby lowering blood pressure and decreasing oxygen demand by the heart.

Uses:

  • Bisoprolol is used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. It's also used for chest pain associated with coronary artery disease.

Side Effects:

  • Side effects can include bradycardia, fatigue, dizziness, and in some cases, worsening of heart failure symptoms.
