Mechanism of Action:

  • Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker with alpha-1 blocking activity. It reduces heart rate and systemic vascular resistance, leading to lower blood pressure.

Uses:

  • Carvedilol is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It's also used after a heart attack to improve survival and reduce the risk of hospitalization.

Side Effects:

  • Side effects can include dizziness, fatigue, hypotension, and bradycardia. In some cases, it may worsen heart failure symptoms, particularly at the start of treatment.
