Mechanism of Action:
Clozapine is an atypical antipsychotic that blocks multiple neurotransmitter receptors in the brain, including dopamine and serotonin receptors.
Uses:
It's used for the treatment of schizophrenia in patients unresponsive to or intolerant of other antipsychotic therapy.
Side Effects:
Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, and increased salivation. It can also cause agranulocytosis (a potentially serious decrease in a type of white blood cell).
