Mode of action
Cromolyn sodium is a mast cell stabiliser. It stops the release of inflammatory mediators including histamine and leukotrienes, which causes allergy symptoms and constriction of the bronchi.
It acts by inhibiting calcium influx.
Uses
Cromolyn used for the prevention and treatment of runny nose, blocked nose, sneezing, and other allergy-related symptoms.
It is used for the treatment of bronchial asthma.
Its nasal solution is used for allergic rhinitis.
