A semi-synthetic tetracycline with better absorption and longer half-life.

Mechanism of Action
Binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing bacterial protein synthesis.
Uses
First-line for Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Chlamydia, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections.
Used for malaria prophylaxis and bioterrorism-related infections (anthrax, plague, tularemia).
Side Effects
Similar to tetracycline (GI distress, photosensitivity, tooth discoloration).
Esophagitis (should be taken with plenty of water).
