Mechanism of action:

  • Binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and inhibits protein synthesis.

Use:

Side effects:

  • Gastrointestinal upset, photosensitivity, tooth discoloration in children, and potential toxicity in pregnancy.
