Purpose of Drugs Inspectors)

  • Serve as the primary enforcers of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, ensuring that all regulated entities comply with legal requirements. (Drugs Inspectors)

Roles and Responsibilities:

Inspections:

  • Conduct routine and surprise inspections of manufacturing units, warehouses, retail outlets, and laboratories.

  • Verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), labeling standards, and storage conditions.

Sampling and Testing:

  • Collect samples of drugs and cosmetics for laboratory testing to assess quality and safety.

Investigations:

  • Investigate complaints, reports of adverse effects, or suspected violations of the Act.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and actions taken.

  • Prepare inspection reports and submit them to higher authorities for further action.

Enforcement Actions:

  • Initiate actions against non-compliant entities, including issuing notices, fines, or recommendations for license suspension/cancellation.

Public Awareness:

  • Educate businesses and the public about regulatory requirements and best practices for drug and cosmetic use.

Training and Qualifications:

  • Typically possess degrees in pharmacy, chemistry, biology, or related fields.

  • Undergo specialized training in regulatory affairs, inspection techniques, and legal procedures.
