Mechanism of Action:
Echothiophate is an irreversible cholinesterase inhibitor. It's another organophosphate, similar in function to Isofluorphate but used primarily in the eye.
Uses:
Primarily used in the treatment of chronic glaucoma.
Side Effects:
Can cause cataract formation with long-term use, decreased visual acuity, and if absorbed systemically, can lead to symptoms of organophosphate toxicity.
