Mechanism of Action

  • Inhibits arabinosyl transferase, preventing arabinogalactan polymerization, an essential component of the mycobacterial cell wall.

Uses

  • First-line TB treatment (in combination therapy).

Side Effects

  • Optic neuritis (dose-dependent, reversible) – red-green color blindness.

  • Hyperuricemia (gout-like symptoms).
