Mechanism of Action
Inhibits arabinosyl transferase, preventing arabinogalactan polymerization, an essential component of the mycobacterial cell wall.
Uses
First-line TB treatment (in combination therapy).
Side Effects
Optic neuritis (dose-dependent, reversible) – red-green color blindness.
Hyperuricemia (gout-like symptoms).
