Mechanism of Action:

  • Gabapentin is thought to work by binding to voltage-gated calcium channels in the brain, which inhibits the release of excitatory neurotransmitters.

Uses:

  • It's used to control seizures, neuropathic pain, and postherpetic neuralgia.

Side Effects:

  • It can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and, in more serious cases, behavioral changes and dependency.
