Mechanism of Action:
Glycopyrrolate is a quaternary ammonium compound that acts as a competitive antagonist of muscarinic receptors, thereby reducing the effects of acetylcholine.
Uses:
It is used to treat peptic ulcer disease and to decrease drooling in patients with certain medical conditions. It's also used as a preoperative medicine to reduce secretions and acid in the stomach.
Side Effects:
Side effects include dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, increased heart rate, and blurred vision.
