Mechanism of Action

  • Binds to fungal microtubules, inhibiting mitosis.

  • Deposited in keratin-rich tissues (nails, skin, hair), preventing fungal growth.

Uses

  • Dermatophytic infections (tinea, ringworm, athlete’s foot, onychomycosis).

Side Effects

  • Hepatotoxicity, GI upset, photosensitivity.

  • Induces CYP450 (drug interactions).
