Mechanism of Action:

Isofluorphate is an organophosphate that irreversibly inhibits acetylcholinesterase, leading to an accumulation of acetylcholine at nerve endings.

Uses:

It was used in the past for the treatment of chronic glaucoma but is not commonly used now due to its long duration of action and potential for toxicity.

Side Effects:

Include prolonged miosis, headache, and typical organophosphate poisoning symptoms such as muscle twitching, respiratory paralysis, and possibly death.
