Mechanism of action:

  • Lomefloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA replication by targeting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.

Uses:

  • Lomefloxacin is used to treat urinary tract infections and respiratory infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Side effects:

  • Side effects can include gastrointestinal disturbances, CNS effects (e.g., headache, dizziness), increased phototoxicity compared to other fluoroquinolones, tendonitis or tendon rupture, and hypersensitivity reactions
