Mechanism of Action:

  • Methsuximide works similarly to phensuximide, by reducing T-type calcium currents of the thalamic neurons.

Uses:

  • It's used to control absence seizures.

Side Effects:

  • It can cause gastrointestinal disturbances, drowsiness, and, in more serious cases, blood dyscrasias.
