Mechanism of action:
Naftifine is an allylamine antifungal that inhibits the enzyme squalene epoxidase, blocking ergosterol synthesis and leading to the accumulation of toxic squalene in fungal cells, resulting in fungal cell death.
Uses:
Naftifine hydrochloride is used to treat dermatophyte infections, such as athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch.
Side effects:
Side effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, itching, or burning at the site of application.
