Mechanism of Action:

  • Primidone is metabolized into phenobarbital and phenylethylmalonamide (PEMA), both of which are active and contribute to its anticonvulsant properties.

Uses:

  • It's used to control seizures, particularly in the treatment of essential tremor.

Side Effects:

  • It can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and, in more serious cases, blood dyscrasias.
