Fermentation Process

  1. Fermenter Type: Stirred-tank bioreactor

  2. Fermentation Method: Submerged fermentation

  3. Medium Composition: 

    • Carbon source: Glucose, malt extract

    • Nitrogen source: Peptone, yeast extract

    • Trace elements: Magnesium, zinc

  4. Conditions: 

    • pH: 5.5-7.0

    • Temperature: 24-28°C

    • Aeration: Moderate oxygen supply

    • Duration: 7-10 days

  5. Downstream Processing: 

    • Filtration to remove biomass

    • Extraction using organic solvents (ethyl acetate)

    • Crystallization and drying to obtain pure griseofulvin
