Mechanism of Action:

  • Promazine is a phenothiazine antipsychotic that blocks postsynaptic mesolimbic dopaminergic D1 and D2 receptors in the brain.

Uses:

  • It's used for the symptomatic relief of psychoses, particularly schizophrenia.

Side Effects:

  • Side effects include extrapyramidal symptoms, drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, and blurred vision.
