Mechanism of Action:

  • Risperidone is an atypical antipsychotic that blocks dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain.

Uses:

  • It's used for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autistic disorder.

Side Effects:

  • Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, and increased appetite. More serious side effects include movement disorders (extrapyramidal symptoms).
