Mechanism of Action:

  • Trifluoperazine is a phenothiazine derivative that blocks dopamine receptors in the brain.

Uses:

  • It's used for the treatment of schizophrenia and for the short-term treatment of anxiety disorders.

Side Effects:

  • Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth. More severe side effects include extrapyramidal symptoms and tardive dyskinesia.
