Mechanism of Action:
Valproic acid works by increasing the concentration of GABA in the brain and by inhibiting the function of voltage-gated sodium channels and T-type calcium channels.
Uses:
It's used to control seizures, bipolar disorder, and to prevent migraines.
Side Effects:
It can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and in more serious cases, liver damage and pancreatitis.
