CBSE Class 9 Curriculum Update 2026–27: Subject Changes and PDF

The CBSE Class 9 curriculum update dated 29 October 2026 applies to students in Class 9 during 2026–27, progressing to Class 10 in 2027–28.

Which curricular components were dropped?

• Individuals in Society and CT & AI modules are excluded for this Class 9 batch.
• Environmental Education is excluded for this batch’s Class 10 year.
• This does not remove the separately listed Artificial Intelligence skill subject from the available vocational options.

What students still study

• The circular’s FAQ lists nine subjects/areas, including languages R1, R2 and R3, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Art Education, Physical Education & Well-being, and Vocational Education.
• Vocational Education is compulsory. Choose Kaushal Vikas or one of the 22 skill subjects, through your school.
• Kaushal Vikas has internal assessment; a chosen listed skill subject has a Class 10 board examination in 2027–28.
