EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship 2027: Life Science Research After a PhD

EMBO offers up to two years of postdoctoral research support. Pharmacy researchers working on eligible fundamental life science questions can consider this route after a PhD.

Eligibility and support

• Qualification: a PhD or equivalent by the fellowship start. Applicants who already hold a PhD normally must have received it within the two years before submission; approved career-break exceptions apply.
• Research record: at least one eligible first-author research publication or qualifying refereed preprint.
• Mobility: you must change country and meet the host-country rules. Applicants of any nationality can apply to an eligible EMBC member-state host.
• Project: read the scientific-scope rules; a direct continuation of the PhD project is ineligible.
• Funding: salary or stipend, relocation support and eligible family benefits depend on the host country.

Deadline and application

• Applications are accepted year-round. The next selection cutoff is 22 January 2027, 14:00 CET.
• Arrange a host laboratory, research proposal, two references and host acceptance before submitting.
• Apply through EMBO.
