  • Structure: Similar to rifampicin but with less CYP450 induction.

Mechanism of Action

  • Inhibits bacterial RNA polymerase, preventing mRNA synthesis.

Uses of Rifabutin

  • TB treatment in HIV patients (less interaction with antiretrovirals).

Side Effects

  • GI upset, myalgia, uveitis.
