Mechanism of Action

  • Same as Metronidazole: activated in anaerobic organisms, causing DNA damage via ROS.

Uses of Ornidazole

  • Amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis.
  • Alternative to Metronidazole with better tolerability.

Side Effects

  • Dizziness, headache, GI upset.
  • Less disulfiram-like reaction compared to Metronidazole.
